KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s tactical squad has arrived at the residence of a Tan Sri in connection with an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of sukuk funds meant for a highway project in the Klang Valley.
Four vehicles from the Anti-Corruption Tactical Squad (ACTS) were seen entering the property in Bandar Tasik Selatan, including two white vans, a Nissan Grand Livina and a Honda City at 10.50am on Thursday (June 12).
The ACTS officers were seen fully armed with firearms.
Earlier this morning, MACC officers continued the questioning of the Tan Sri over alleged sukuk fund misuse in a highway project.
A white Toyota Vios carrying MACC officers was seen entering the individual’s residence at 8.45am.
One of the entrances to the property was also sealed by auxiliary police from a private company, with cones and barriers placed at the gate.
Media personnel were prevented from approaching the area.
Yesterday, the Tan Sri’s statement was recorded over six hours, from 9am to 3.07pm.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki previously said the highway concessionaire is a key witness in the investigation.
Earlier reports also stated that 45 individuals who had given statements were recalled to provide further information.
On June 3, the MACC disclosed it had seized assets worth around RM143mil in the probe, which centres on the alleged misappropriation of sukuk funds for a Klang Valley highway project.
Investigators are also tracing luxury vehicles and properties linked to the Tan Sri, including assets in London and Switzerland.
