KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Armed Forces have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation, says Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman.
The MACC Chief Commissioner said the collaboration would focus particularly on intelligence-sharing, information exchange and governance enhancement.
The move is aimed at bolstering anti-corruption efforts and safeguarding national interests.
He said the collaboration between the commission and the military would continue to be enhanced to ensure anti-graft measures are carried out more effectively.
Abd Halim said this during a courtesy call by Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO) director-general Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Fazal Abdul Rahman on Tuesday (July 7).
The meeting took place at the MACC headquarters here.
Abd Halim noted that the MACC greatly valued its existing cooperation with the Armed Forces. He expressed hope that the synergy between both agencies would continue to grow stronger.
“I believe this synergy will continue to be strengthened, particularly in the areas of intelligence-sharing, information exchange and governance enhancement," he said.
He added that this would ensure anti-corruption efforts are executed effectively in the interest of the nation.
Lt-Jen Fazal said the military remains committed to upholding high standards of governance. He stressed that the Armed Forces prioritises discipline in all aspects of duty and ensures operations are carried out professionally.
He added that close cooperation with the MACC would continue to be strengthened in support of the integrity and good governance agenda.
Also present at the meeting was MACC Intelligence Division senior director Datuk Saiful Ezral Arifin.
Armed Forces Security and Counter Intelligence Directorate director Leftenan Kolonel Muhamad Zainol Md Yusof also attended the session.
