Video of pilot whales supposedly appearing off Pulau Tioman goes viral


PETALING JAYA: A video has gone viral on social media supposedly of a large pod of pilot whales sighted near Pulau Tioman.

The clip, shared on Threads by user @irwanismail_, showed dozens of the majestic marine mammals surfacing in unison across the open sea, creating a spectacular display that quickly captured the attention of social media users.

The user estimated that between 100 and 150 pilot whales were in the area, saying the animals could be spotted "as far as the eye could see".

The user added that while such sightings were rare, it was extra special due to the size of the pod.

At the time of writing, the video had garnered over 2,700 likes and shared over 600 times
