DNA test to confirm identity of body found in Bangsar construction site

KUALA LUMPUR: A DNA test will be conducted on the body of a man who was found at a construction site in Bangsar here on Wednesday (June 4).

In a statement on Wednesday, the city's Fire and Rescue Department said that the body was found in an elevator shaft that was flooded.

“The personnel on the ground are now waiting for the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) Pathology department to take a DNA sample,” it said.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said that the identity of the body has yet to be determined.

“Efforts to remove the body are still ongoing. It is in a very difficult spot to retrieve," he said when met at the scene.

It is speculated that the body was that of Jordan Michael John Johnson-Doyle from the United Kingdom, who went missing in the area on May 27.

ACP Ku Mashariman said police were looking for Johnson-Doyle when they discovered the dead body.

“Based on the last known whereabouts (of Johnson-Doyle), we conducted a total search with 30 policemen, the site's workers and building management. The body was found inside a lift shaft that was still being constructed.

Concerns grew for the 25-year-old Briton's safety when his family was unable to get in touch with him, as his phone went unanswered and his social media account remained inactive.
