Amanah expels 58 members for joining other political parties

SHAH ALAM: A total of 58 members of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) have been expelled by the Amanah Nasional Executive Committee (JKP) for the offence of participating in the elections of other political parties, as of May 22, 2025.

Amanah secretary-general Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said that 51 show-cause letters have also been issued to members suspected of the same offence.

He noted that failing to respond to these letters could also lead to expulsion.

"Amanah takes seriously the reports and complaints regarding some of its members registering as members of other political parties and participating in their elections.

"The Amanah constitution stipulates that such actions can lead to disciplinary measures, including membership expulsion.

"To ensure these disciplinary violations are handled systematically, harmoniously, and effectively, two forms of action have been implemented: immediate membership expulsion or further investigation depending on the severity of the violation," he said in a statement on Friday (May 23).

He added that Amanah hopes the measures taken will serve as a stern reminder to all members.

"Therefore, all Amanah members are urged to adhere to organisational discipline in accordance with the party's constitution and procedures," he said.
