Perak cops detonate old artillery shell found in Seri Iskandar


IPOH: A 155mm artillery shell has been found in an open area in Sungai Tumbuh, Bandar Universiti, Seri Iskandar.

Perak Tengah police chief Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the old bomb weighing 35kg was found by a 55-year-old man while carrying out routine work in the area at 8pm on Sunday (May 18).

"The Perak police's bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the location to investigate.

"Following that, the bomb was destroyed using the high-order in situ method," he said on Monday (May 19).

"The operation carried out by the team was completed at 9am on Monday and  further investigation found the place was safe," he said. – Bernama
