Putin and Anwar share light moment at the Kremlin

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Vladimir Putin shared a light moment at the Kremlin when the Prime Minister was playfully teased by the Russian President.

During a press conference in the Green Room, Putin said he posed a riddle to Anwar about three thrones in the St Andrews Hall at the Kremlin.

“One throne is for the tsar and another is for his wife. What do you think the third throne is for?"

"The thinking Prime Minister said, ‘the second wife.’ I hope he is not angry at me for saying these things," said Putin, which made Anwar and others present at the press conference laugh.

"I have to say, our traditional values may not be the same, but exchanging information is always useful for both parties. Thank you very much," added Putin.

Anwar immediately said to Putin; "I only have one wife, Mr President."

"But I failed the riddle because the President tested me and it was a trick," quipped Anwar.

"I said on the right is the wife and on the left is the second wife. The one on the left should be the mother," added Anwar.

Putin then said, "The exchange of information is always useful. Thank you."

The duo ended the press conference, shook hands, and left.

Anwar arrived in Moscow on Tuesday for a four-day official visit. He is set to continue the second segment of his trip to Kazan, Tatarstan, on Thursday (May 15).
