Transport Ministry to launch task force to probe FRU accident


PETALING JAYA: The Transport Ministry will set up an independent special task force to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the tragic accident that claimed the lives of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel on Tuesday (May 13), says Anthony Loke.

"We are committed to uncovering the true cause of this tragic event," said the Transport Minister.

"The task force will comprise experts and officials from the ministry who will conduct a comprehensive investigation to ensure accountability and transparency."

Loke also expressed his condolences, saying, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of these brave individuals who served our nation with honour.

"Their dedication and sacrifice will not be forgotten."

He noted that the task force aimed to identify effective preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies in the future.

"Our goal is to ensure our personnel's and the public's safety."

The accident claimed the lives of Sjn Perumal Sugunanathan, 44; Sjn Mohd Roslan Abd Rahim, 46; Kpl Mohd Pozli Jaudin, 41; Kpl Nurit Ak Pandak, 34; Kpl Amiruddin Zabri, 38; Kpl Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38; Kpl Muhamad Akmal Muhamad, 35; L/Kpl Damarrulan Abdul Latif, 33, and Konst Akmal Wafi Annuar.

The accident, involving a police truck and a lorry on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam in Pahang, also left five FRU members and nine policemen injured.
