PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and Datuk Fahmi Fadzil have extended their condolences to the families of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel who died in a road accident in Teluk Intan, Perak on Tuesday (May 13).
"I received the tragic news of their deaths, which involved a truck carrying stones at Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, Teluk Intan on Tuesday morning," Saifuddin, the Home Minister, said on Facebook.
"Their passing is a big loss to the country as they have worked with full dedication in maintaining peace and the safety of the people.
"May Allah forgive their sins and place their souls among the righteous," he added.
Mohamad, the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, said he was deeply saddened by the news.
"Losing a loved one, especially those who served for the security of the country, is a heavy challenge to bear.
"May the families of the victims be given strength, fortitude and peace in facing these trying times.
"May the souls of the victims be blessed and placed among the faithful," he said on Facebook.
Fahmi, the Communications Minister, said in a statement that the deaths of the FRU personnel were "a significant loss, not only to their families and colleagues but also to the nation."
“FRU members are national heroes who are always ready to be at the forefront to ensure public safety and order.
“I pray that the souls of the deceased victims are blessed and placed among the righteous. May the families of the victims be granted strength,” he said.
He added that his ministry is ready to cooperate with other authorities and the media in conveying accurate information and curbing the spread of false news on the incident to protect the families' sensitivities and respect the ongoing investigation process.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon said the accident occurred at 8.30am along Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam in Teluk Intan.
She said the accident involved a lorry laden with rocks and an FRU vehicle carrying 15 personnel, including the driver.
