Five FRU officers seriously injured in fatal crash

PETALING JAYA: Five additional members of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) remain seriously injured, according to Bukit Aman.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said in a statement on Tuesday (May 13) that nine policemen were being treated at the hospital.

“This includes the five who were seriously injured,” he said.

He added that the deaths were a huge loss to the police force and the nation.

“They have served with dedication and commitment in preserving peace and security. I pray that the souls of these fallen heroes are placed among the righteous.

“To the family members of those affected, may they be given the strength to face this difficult period.

“And to those recuperating, let us pray for their quick and complete recovery,” said Comm Azmi.

Earlier on Tuesday, nine FRU personnel were killed in an accident involving the police unit’s truck and a lorry on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam in Teluk Intan.
