KUALA LUMPUR: PKR deputy information Chief I, Datuk Seri R Ramanan, who has offered himself as a candidate for the PKR vice president post, is determined to champion the voice of Malaysia Madani in alignment with the party's core principles.
Ramanan, who is also Sungai Buloh MP, said PKR is a party that prioritises, values, and celebrates all ethnic groups through power-sharing at the branch, state, and national levels.
Entrusted with overseeing Indian community affairs, Ramanan said his decision was driven by the belief that PKR, as a multiracial party, must be strengthened through the voices and aspirations of all segments of society.
“I am committed to bringing the voices of PKR members into the party’s mainstream leadership, ensuring inclusivity, justice, and equal opportunities for all.
“I believe PKR must strengthen its role as a progressive political platform that truly represents the diversity of the Malaysian people, based on the Federal Constitution and the principles of the Rukun Negara,” he said in a statement on Sunday (May 11).
The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister also called on all PKR members to unite in the struggle as one team – the 'Anwar Ibrahim Team'.
He said this party election is not just about choosing leaders but also about determining the direction of the party in upholding the reformist ideals it has long championed, while supporting party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim – who is also the Prime Minister – in continuing to bring change to the nation.
“With your support, we will continue to move forward as a party that truly represents the voice of Malaysia Madani, in line with the Malaysia Madani vision,” he said.
On March 24, Ramanan announced his decision to contest the vice president post in the party elections this May, with the aim of further strengthening and empowering PKR from the grassroots level to the central leadership, especially in preparation for the 16th General Election (GE16). - Bernama
