Juvenile croc caught in Batu Pahat


BATU PAHAT: A juvenile crocodile was captured near the site where a 4.5-metre female crocodile weighing about 410kg was caught on Wednesday (May 7).

The Johor Fire Rescue Department Operation Centre reported receiving a call about the reptile on Friday (May 9) at 7.15pm.

Bandar Penggaram Fire station senior officer II Murad Paiman said six firemen and a Fire Rapid Tender vehicle were deployed to Kampung Parit Gantong, Taman Nira.

"The one-metre crocodile was caught using a rope and has been handed over to the Wildlife Department," he said in a statement.

The operation ended at 5.47pm.

On May 7, a female crocodile was captured by villagers at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Parit Gantong Laut, Parit Lapis, Taman Nira.

The reptile had already been caught by villagers when firemen from the Bandar Penggaram Fire station arrived at the scene, and it was handed over to the Wildlife Department.
