Form six allowance proposal to go before Cabinet next week, says Education Minister

BUTTERWORTH: A proposal to provide an allowance for Form Six students will be brought to the Cabinet meeting next week, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said.

She said the matter would be presented after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim returns from his visit to Turkmenistan.

"We understand the aspirations and expectations of Form Six students, and this is something we continue to champion,” she said when speaking at the ‘POV Anak Muda: Anak Muda dan Ketidakpastian Realiti’ Northern Zone Series 2 programme here on Saturday (June 13).

Fadhlina said that the government had previously pushed for an allowance for students at Teacher Education Institutes who are now receiving the benefit.

The one-day programme brought together about 950 participants and served as a platform for dialogue between youths, leaders, policymakers and analysts to discuss issues related to education, the economy, employment and cost of living. — Bernama
