Vet Dept to test dead pigeons found in Ipoh

IPOH: The discovery of dead pigeons near a fountain at Ipoh Padang has prompted an investigation by the Perak Veterinary Services Department.

The department’s health unit head Dr R. Pravina Vathi said carcass samples have been collected for laboratory tests to determine whether the deaths were caused by disease or poisoning.

She said the incident was reported by the Ipoh City Council on Sunday, and a team was sent to inspect the scene the same day.

Preliminary disease test results are expected within one to two weeks, while toxicology results could take up to a month.
