Melaka cops summon popular YouTuber for viral modified micromobility vehicle

MELAKA: Melaka police have summoned a popular YouTuber to assist in the investigation after a video of him allegedly riding a modified micromobility vehicle went viral on social media.

Melaka Police Chief, Deputy Comm Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, said the 27-year-old was called in for questioning after authorities came across a 22-second video uploaded on TikTok at around 11.50am on Monday (May 5)

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the micromobility vehicle had been modified and fitted with a roof.

"The vehicle was seen being ridden by a man with two male pillion riders at the Lee Rubber traffic lights along the Alor Gajah–Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) Highway," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 6)

DCP Dzulkhairi said his men had conducted checks on a motorcycle bearing registration number MDJ1154, registered under the YouTuber’s name, believed to have been used to record the footage of the micromobility vehicle in question.

He added that police have contacted the YouTuber and were informed that he is currently in Sabah for business matters until next Friday (May 16).

He said the YouTuber has been requested to present himself at the Highway Patrol Enforcement Division of the Melaka Tengah police headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department to have his statement recorded.

"He (YouTuber) has confirmed that he will cooperate by attending with his lawyer on May 17," he added.
