Woman dies in Port Dickson after falling from car

PORT DICKSON: A 39-year-old woman passenger died after falling out of a car negotiating a bend and being run over by a tanker lorry coming from the opposite direction.

District police chief Supt Maslan Udin said the woman, who was seated in the back seat, died on the spot in the accident at km26 Jalan Lukut-Sepang this morning (May 4).

"The woman was seated on the right side when the door suddenly opened as the 34-year-old driver was taking a corner.

"Apart from the victim and the driver, there was a five-month-old baby strapped in a child seat in the car," he said in a statement.

Supt Maslan said the car was heading towards Lukut from Sepang, while the tanker lorry was heading in the opposite direction when the accident occurred.

He said a urine test conducted on the car driver returned negative for substance abuse.

"We have also obtained a dashcam recording of the accident from the tanker lorry," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He said investigations were ongoing, although police have for now ruled out foul play.

Supt Maslan advised motorists to ensure their vehicle doors are properly locked when they are on the road to prevent such accidents.
