SHAH ALAM: The police have concluded their investigation related to criminal elements over the Putra Heights incident, says Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Amirudin said the report is expected to be presented to the Cabinet within a week.
“The police have completed its investigation related to negligence or criminal elements. The report is currently being done.
“We expect it will be ready in a week, and the police will present the report,” he said in a joint press conference with Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming at the Selangor State Secretariat building here, on Wednesday (April 30).
Amirudin also stated that a comprehensive technical report by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) was expected to be completed within a month.
“While the initial report has been released, we still need more time as the area remains waterlogged and requires further investigation.
“With that, we will be able to obtain a full report, and later it can be presented to the Cabinet or the state government council meeting and made available for external parties if necessary,” he added.
Amirudin said an independent panel would be appointed to evaluate both the technical investigations by DOSH and the police to ensure that such an incident would not happen again.
“This is because we have pipeline routes and other high-risk areas such as the high-voltage cable routes and high-pressure water pipelines,” he said.
Amirudin said the state government would also explore expanding standard operating procedures (SOP) to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
“It has been a lesson to all authorities, but this will be expanded further once DOSH has conducted a thorough investigation and achieved the best conclusion,” he said.
On April 1, a gas pipeline fire caused widespread destruction, affecting 81 homes with more than 40% structural damage. Another 81 houses were partially destroyed, while 57 were affected but not burned. In contrast, 218 homes, including those in Kampung Tengah Puchong, remained unaffected.
