MACC, PETRONAS strengthen cooperation on anti-corruption efforts

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and PETRONAS have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation to enhance governance, integrity and anti-corruption efforts.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the collaboration between the two organisations was crucial in ensuring transparent governance and strengthening integrity practices.

He said this after receiving a courtesy call from PETRONAS president and group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz at the MACC headquarters on Thursday (July 23).

During the meeting, both parties discussed efforts to enhance integrity and anti-corruption awareness among PETRONAS employees, as well as measures to strengthen internal control mechanisms to reduce the risk of misconduct and improve corporate governance.

Tengku Muhammad Taufik said PETRONAS also places emphasis on its speak-up culture to encourage employees to report any form of misconduct or corruption, in line with the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards of corporate governance.

Also present were MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, PETRONAS senior vice-president of Group Legal and group general counsel Razman Hashim, and PETRONAS head of integrity Mohamad Faizal Sadri.
