Youths with criminal records nabbed for housebreaking


KLUANG: Police arrested two suspects in connection with a housebreaking incident during a raid at Ladang Sungai Kluang on Jalan Padang Tembak here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said a team from the district's Criminal Investigation Department conducted the raid at about 1am on Thursday (April 25).

“We arrested a local man and a local woman, aged 21 and 22.

"Checks revealed that the man has six prior criminal offences and three drug-related offences, while the woman has two drug-related offences on her record.

“Both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a statement on Friday (April 25).

ACP Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

“The suspects have been remanded for seven days until May 1 to facilitate investigations. Further interrogation is being carried out to determine their involvement in other cases,” he added.
