SHAH ALAM: A man was detained for hoarding a small collection of real firearms and airsoft guns.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the raid was conducted at a house in Serendah on Monday following a public tip off.
During the inspections the police seized a revolver, a .22 calibre rifle, two handguns – a CZ and Glock – a rifle resembling an AK47, an unknown black rifle and a taser with two batteries.
“Four magazines and 186 bullets were also found,” he told a press conference at the state police headquarters yesterday.
When questioned the suspect indicated that three of the firearms seized were real and the rest were airsoft guns, he said.
“Checks on the suspect, in his sixties, showed that he has no criminal record.
“He said that he received it from friends and he has no licence (for firearms).
“Investigations are underway to determine if they had been used for any criminal activities. For now we believe it was for his collection,” he said adding that efforts are underway to locate the friends who supplied him with the weapons. The man has been remanded for six days.
Meanwhile on investigations into a fire bombing incident in Ampang, Comm Hussein said that three suspects have been arrested following raids on April 8 and April 9 in Kepong and Bukit Jalil.
“They were found to have received ‘jobs’ from a loan shark based in Singapore. The third suspect, the wife of one of the main suspects, was tasked with recording their actions.
“The group was paid around RM1,000 to RM1,500 for causing fires and around RM600 to RM900 for paint throwing,” he said.
