Firearms, airsoft guns seized from elderly man's Selangor house

SHAH ALAM: A small collection of firearms and airsoft guns was found after a raid at a house in Serendah.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the discovery was the result of investigations on a tip-off from the public.

"On April 21, at around 5pm, a raid was conducted at a house in Serendah. Checks on the suspect, in his sixties, showed that he had no previous criminal record," he said at a press conference on Wednesday (April 23) at the state police headquarters here.

During the inspections, the police seized a revolver, a .22 calibre rifle, two handguns branded CZ and Glock, a rifle resembling an AK47, an unknown black rifle, and a taser gun with two batteries.

"Four magazines and 186 bullets were also found," he added.

Questionings on the suspect showed that three of the firearms seized were real and the rest were airsoft guns.

"He said that he obtained them from friends. He does not have a firearms license.

"Investigations are underway to determine if they had been used for any criminal activities. For now, we believe it was for self-collection.

"We are also tracing down the individuals who gave him the firearms," Comm Hussein said.

The suspect was also found to have a badge of the Perak royal family on his vehicle; however, checks revealed that he held no titles.

Two vehicles were also seized during the raid.

"Five witnesses have had their statements recorded and the suspect has been remanded for six days," he said.
