Kuantan engineer duped of over RM1.1mil in investment scam


KUANTAN: An engineer has lost over RM1.1mil after falling victim to a fake investment scheme here.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the 36-year-old male victim started investing through an online platform on Dec 3, 2024.

He said the victim made 19 transactions involving seven different bank accounts, using his savings and even borrowed from family and friends.

"However, the victim only received returns of RM15,032.53 before the "platform administrator" began giving various excuses to block the withdrawal of more than RM4mil, said to be profits from the investment," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 22).

Yahaya added that the victim realised he had been cheated and lodged a police report at the Kuantan district police headquarters on Monday (April 21). – Bernama
