Ayer Kuning polls: Early Mother's Day treat for mums in Banir new village

PETALING JAYA: Although Mother's Day is usually celebrated on the second Sunday of May in Malaysia, mothers in the Ayer Kuning constituency were treated to an early celebration on Sunday (April 20).

Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said, in a Facebook post Sunday, that he was happy to have managed to celebrate Mother's Day in advance during the event held at the Banir new village.

"It was wonderful to see the beautiful smiles of the mother here as they took part in the activities organised during the gathering," the MCA president said in his post.

Dr Wee also said he had also told the villages that if they voted for the Barisan Nasional candidate, they were also voting for the value of consensus, mutual tolerance and acceptance.

"The BN spirit has always emphasised multiculturalism, and one that always celebrates diversity.

"I hope Ayer Kuning constituents will vote for candidate No.1 from BN, Dr Yusri Bakir," he added.

The Ayer Kuning by-election is a three-way contest between BN candidate Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abd Muhaimin Malek and KS Bawani from Parti Sosialis Malaysia.

The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for April 26, with early voting scheduled for April 22.
