Syed Saddiq deeply moved by support from public during court case

PUTRAJAYA: Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is deeply moved by the overwhelming support from the public during his ongoing court case.

Speaking to the media after court proceedings on Thursday (April 17), the Muar MP maintained his innocence and thanked his supporters.

“Some even held online Yasin recitations via TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.

“I am forever indebted to the rakyat from all walks of life, regardless of race, religion or age, who continue to pray for justice.”

Describing himself as merely “a vehicle of the people’s aspirations,” the former youth and sports minister reaffirmed his commitment to justice and national development.

“I love this country more than I love my own life. From the very beginning, my conscience has been clear.

“I’ve been ready since 2020 to face whatever comes, because I made a principled decision to stand up for what’s right, despite repeated offers to take an easy way out.”

He also paid tribute to the late Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, praising the former Prime Minister’s commitment to safeguarding judicial independence.

“In the end, I entrust everything to the judiciary and to fate. Only Allah decides.

“When we are young, we must dare to take risks. Never sell your soul or abandon your principles under pressure.

“Don’t simply kowtow to those in power. Fighting the good fight is worth it,” he said.
