IPOH: A video of a confrontation between Ipoh City Council enforcement officers and a few people at an eatery here has gone viral.
In the two-minute 55-second video clip, one enforcement officer was heard saying that he was being threatened before launching into a tirade against an individual who was not shown.
The incident is believed to have occurred during an operation to seize tables and chairs from a five-foot walkway outside the eatery.
A woman, believed to be a restaurant worker, made a plea to the officer not to seize their tables and chairs, while another officer was heard saying that they will make it a police case if they are obstructed from performing their duties.
Things got heated when the officers began taking the chairs before a man rushed out from the eatery and tried to stop the officers, but fell.
Several people were also seen trying to diffuse the situation.
On his Facebook page, Ipoh City councillor Wong Kar Keat said the incident occurred at Taman Rasi Jaya on Wednesday (April 16) morning.
"A meeting will be called involving the city councillor of that zone, the city council's enforcement officers and also the owner of the eatery to clarify what had happened.
"Based on the video, there were some provocations that occurred," he said.
"I am also aware of some improper behaviour from some (enforcement) officers, and it must be stressed that not all are like that.
"We will not condone any wrongdoing, but we will also not accept any gangster behaviour," he added.
