Teen stuffed into suitcase on way to kidnappers' hideout

KUALA LUMPUR: The teenage girl who was abducted in Seremban on April 10, was stuffed into a suitcase by her kidnappers and taken to a hideout.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the kidnapping was masterminded by a 31-year-old woman.

"On the day of the incident, the 16-year-old girl and her mother went to a beauty salon. Not long after that, the victim wanted to go to a nearby supermarket before she was kidnapped by a man and shoved into a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

"In the vehicle, the victim was tied up and stuffed into a suitcase," he told a press conference at CID headquarters on Tuesday (April 15).

The victim's family then received a demand for a RM2mil ransom, he said.

"After negotiating with kidnappers, the family paid RM280,000 along with several gold necklaces," he said.

Comm Mohd Shuhaily said the kidnappers even scanned the ransom bag using a metal detector to check for trackers.

"The victim was released in Port Dickson the next day," he said.

After forming two special CID teams, Comm Mohd Shuhaily said three men and three women, including the mastermind, were detained.

"We also recovered RM180,000 of the ransom money.

"The kidnappers had spent RM100,000 before they were caught," he said.

Meanwhile, another accomplice, a 21-year-old man, was killed following a shootout in Klang on Monday (April 14).

"The six suspects detained have been remanded for 14 days," he said.

It was reported that the suspect was killed after he rammed his vehicle against two police cars before firing several shots at them.

The police were then forced to return fire, killing the suspect near Bukit Tinggi, Klang.
