Enduring legacy: Pak Lah will be remembered with gratitude for his immense contributions, says Amirudin

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, lauding the late former prime minister’s lifelong contributions to the country’s political and administrative landscape.

Amirudin said the state government and the people of Selangor mourn the loss of a statesman with an enduring legacy of public service.

“On behalf of the Selangor administration and its people, I offer our deepest sympathies to the family of Tun Abdullah.

"As a prime minister and a long-serving leader in government, his contributions to the nation were immense,” Amirudin said on Tuesday (April 15).

He described the national tribute accorded to Abdullah as a mark of respect, not just from the government but from all Malaysians, including the people of Selangor, who recognise the sacrifices and efforts made throughout his political journey.

“His perseverance in leadership and his service to the nation, culminating in his role as Malaysia’s fifth prime minister, will be remembered with gratitude,” he added.

Amirudin also prayed for Abdullah’s soul to be blessed and for his good deeds during his lifetime to be rewarded in the hereafter.

“May his soul be showered with divine mercy, and may all his noble deeds throughout his service to the country be richly rewarded by Allah SWT,” he said.

Abdullah, who led the country from 2003 to 2009, passed away peacefully at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at 7.10pm on Monday (April 14).
