Cops nab Tawau man who threatened mum with parang

KOTA KINABALU: A man has been arrested in Tawau after he allegedly threatened his mother with a parang at their home.

Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the man, in his 30s, was said to have made the threat at 11.10pm on Monday (April 14)

"The man's younger brother reported the incident to us shortly after midnight on Tuesday (April 15), leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.

"The suspect was picked up on the sidewalk of a building in the town," he said.

ACP Jasmin said the man does not have a criminal record, but police believe he has an aggressive nature.

Police also learned that he had previously damaged a neighbour's property, he added.

ACP Jasmin said the suspect is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

"Do not remain silent if there is a threat or violence within the family.

"Report it immediately to the police, so that action can be taken for the safety of all parties," he added.
