Driver dies after being thrown out of vehicle


PETALING JAYA: A pick-up truck driver has died after getting flung out from his vehicle when it hit a road divider at KM116.5 of the East Coast Highway 1 here.

Police confirmed that the 41-year-old victim from Kampung Lada, Jerantut Feri, Jerantut, died at the scene in the 7.15pm incident on Sunday (April 13).

Temerloh OCPD Asst Comm Mazlan Hassan said the victim’s 40-year-old wife and two children, ages three and 10, who were also in the pick-up, were injured in the accident.

According to him, initial investigations found that the vehicle involved is believed to have lost control and skidded, hitting the metal road divider and a nearby stone slab.

"The driver was thrown out through the driver-side door.

He said the injured victims were sent for treatment at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital.

"The case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
