Thousands attend DPM Ahmad Zahid's Hari Raya open house


PUTRAJAYA: The night sky over the administrative capital was illuminated with a fireworks show in conjunction with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House.

Approximately 20,000 guests gathered at Ahmad Zahid’s official residence at Sri Putra, Precinct 16, on Sunday (April 13).

Guests began arriving at the venue as early as 7pm.

The event was also graced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Ahmad Zahid, also the Rural and Regional Minister, along with his wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, spent the evening greeting guests.

Heavy rain did not deter the thousands of attendees from all walks of life, including tourists from foreign countries, who enjoyed the traditional dishes.

A total of 25 children from a welfare home received "duit raya" during the event.

Several Cabinet ministers and foreign envoys were also present at the celebration.

Local artists performed at the event, which lasted until 11pm.

Among the celebrities were Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Hael Husaini, Nadeera Azmi, Wany Hasrita, Ara Johari, and Fauziah Gambus.
