Three-year-old boy dies after falling though hole on Kuala Kangsar bridge


IPOH: A three-year-old boy has died after falling through a hole on the Victoria Bridge in Enggor, Kuala Kangsar.

Sungai Siput OCPD Supt AW Charan said police were alerted to the incident at 6.40pm on Monday (Aug 31).

"The victim was walking across the bridge while holding his 41-year-old father's hand when he fell through a hole in the bridge.

"His 41-year-old mother witnessed the fall. The child was rushed to Kuala Kangsar Hospital," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 1).

Charan said the victim, the youngest of five siblings, was pronounced dead at 7.40pm.

He said the family were in Kuala Kangsar on holiday and were exploring the area around Victoria Bridge.

The case has been classified as sudden death and further investigations are underway.

The Victoria Bridge is a disused railway bridge built in 1897 across the Perak River that has since been turned into a tourist attraction. – Bernama
