Miti to present new analysis on US tariff impact at April 14 NGCC meeting

KUALA LUMPUR: A new analysis of the impact of the recent changes in United States (US) tariffs on the national economy will be presented at the National Geo-Economic Action Council (NGCC) meeting on Monday (April 14).

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"There are new developments every day. Recently, (President Donald) Trump gave tariff exemptions for smartphones and computers.

"Changes like these force us to carry out a new analysis immediately to understand the impact on the national economy. Accurate analysis leads to accurate strategies," he said in a post on X on Sunday.

The new analysis on the tariff changes will be presented by the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti).

On April 7, Tengku Zafrul said the NGCC was activated to address the effects of US tariffs. - Bernama
