Perak govt to help four orphaned siblings continue their studies

IPOH: Four orphaned siblings from Tronoh, whose parents were killed in an accident in Gopeng two years ago, will get the necessary help to continue their studies, says a Perak exco member.

Education committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanapiah said the state is working with several agencies to ensure that all four would be given opportunities.

Khairudin said they are discussing the placement of the eldest sibling, Nur Fatin Syafikah Mohd Ramddan, 20, with local universities.

"She is a good student, having obtained 6As and 3Bs in her SPM examination.

"She was going to register at a matriculation college before tragedy struck," he told a press conference after the launch of hydrotherapy pools at the State Sports Council building by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad here on Wednesday (April 9).

"We will try to get her a spot in a tertiary institution... and (be) an inspiration for her siblings.

"She has expressed her interest in taking up a course either in pharmacy or early education," he added when asked to comment on his visit to the siblings' home in Tronoh on Monday (April 7).

Former Titi Serong assemblyman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim shared on Facebook on March 30 that Nur Fatin Syafikah had to forgo furthering her studies to find work and take care of her siblings.

Hasnul Zulkarnain said two of the woman's brothers had also dropped out of school owing to financial difficulties.

The siblings' parents, Mohd Ramddan Abd Rahim, 44, and Kisdalliana Saad, 43, were killed after their car went out of control and crashed into the gate of a factory at KM3.5 Jalan Gopeng-Kota Baru in July 2023.

Youngest child Nur Fatihah Najihah, then seven, and their grandmother Noraini Ahmad, then 63, were injured.

Khairudin said the second sibling, Mohd Ikman Hafifi, 19, has been nominated for an automotive vocational course while the third, 15-year-old Mohd Aiman Daniel, would be placed in a boarding school.

"We are working with Pusat Aspirasi Anak Perak to find a suitable school for Ikman Hafifi to get the exposure and skills required to support himself and also help his family.

"We hope Aiman Daniel can continue (his studies) until Form Five and sit for the SPM," he said, adding that the youngest sibling is still in primary school.

"We will ensure that they get the necessary help and education so that they will not be neglected and be influenced by negative elements," he added.
