MERSING: The body of a foreign man who drowned after going for a swim with his friends near Pulau Mawar in Endau has been found.
Endau Fire and Rescue station chief and senior operations commander Mohd Alias Hussin said the victim, identified as R. Narayanan, 45, an Indian national, was discovered by rescue personnel about 300 metres from where he was reported missing, at around 4.50pm.

“There were three victims involved in the case. One of them, identified as K. Anpananthan, 39, a Malaysian, managed to save himself.
“Another, V. Yogaraj, 37, a Singaporean, was also found drowned and floating near the water’s surface by members of the public,” he said in a statement.
He added that the three men were friends who had travelled from Johor Baru to Mersing.
Alias said Yogaraj was brought to shore but was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Firefighters used a rescue rope to retrieve the body of the third victim, which was later handed over to the police for further action,” he added.
The operation, involving seven firefighters and two vehicles – one LFRT unit and one Hilux – officially ended at 6.21pm.
It was earlier reported that two men had drowned while another managed to save himself at Pulau Mawar on Monday (April 7).
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.37pm, and a team from the Endau Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 2.56pm. The location was approximately 20km away.
Alias said the three men were swimming in the area when two of them were swept away by strong currents.
