Balloon trader denies DBKL warning claims

PETALING JAYA: Balloon trader 'Abang Belon' has denied claims that he was warned three times by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers before a reported scuffle on Saturday (March 30).

In a video shared by an officer of Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, the trader expressed disappointment over the allegedly false statement made by the other party.

"It's not true, as I was afraid of them because I did not have a valid licence and knew my goods would be seized," Sinar Harian reported him saying in the recording.

On Saturday, DBKL said three warnings were given to the balloon seller who was allegedly involved in a scuffle with enforcement personnel in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman on Friday.

"I was indeed doing business without a licence because I did not know the correct application process," he said.

"I also have a stroke, and the business is to cover some expenses, and it's Raya, right?" he asked in the video.

He added that he also has younger siblings who are still in school.

However, he denied not being a Malaysian citizen.
