Immigration enforcers nab one of their own for allowing foreigners in without checks

PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department has detained one of their own after he had allegedly brought in foreigners without inspections.

Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, in a statement Friday (March 28), said that the arrest was made at KL International Airport Terminal 2 on March 27 at noon.

"Based on public information and surveillance from the Integrity Unit, the KLIA Immigration Department inspected the officer in question and found nine Pakistani passports and two Sri Lankan ones in his sweater," he said.

He added that the department would not compromise and protect any of its officers caught misusing their powers.

"Strict action will be taken based on the laws at hand, including termination of duties if the officer caught was found to be guilty.

"The department is committed and serious in ensuring that its officers are constantly operating with the highest level of integrity," he said.
