PETALING JAYA: The government has not promised or approved any form of compensation to be given to the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple, says Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) also emphasised that no other agreements or "deals" were made apart from the resolution she officially announced on Tuesday (March 25).
"I would like to stress that the decision taken was the result of harmonious discussions among all parties involved and was a win-win situation.
"Most importantly, the construction of the mosque on privately owned land, which has been delayed since 2020, can proceed as planned, while the temple management has agreed to relocate to an alternative site that has been identified," she said in a statement on Wednesday (March 26).
Dr Zaliha also stressed that this situation should not be considered a "precedent case" for any other similar situation arising in the future.
She stated that this particular case was a specific resolution to the issue, handled wisely, in accordance with the law, and considering the sensitivities of various parties.
"I urge all parties to stop this unproductive polemic. Let's not stir up religious or racial sentiments based on false information, as it can undermine the harmony and unity we have built together," she said.
On Tuesday, the media reported that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had confirmed his attendance at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Masjid Madani on waqf land owned by the textile company, Jakel Group.
In the same development, the management of the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple agreed to move to a new site not far from the current location.
