No road maintenance along Pan Borneo Highway during Aidilfitri

KUCHING: Road maintenance will not be carried out along the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak during the Aidilfitri celebration.

State Public Works Department director Cassidy Morris said this was to prevent congestion and ensure highway safety over the festive period.

"We cannot do maintenance works during festive seasons. As such, we have directed our contractors to ensure that no major repair works are carried out during the coming celebration," he said at a media engagement session on Monday (March 24).

This comes after Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggii said road maintenance works involving lane closures on highways will be halted from Monday (March 24) until April 7 in conjunction with Aidilfitri.

In a Facebook post on Monday, he said exceptions would be allowed for emergency works should the need arise.

"Don't forget to plan your journey with (digital app) MyPLUS-TTA during the festive season so that you arrive at your destination safely and comfortably," he added.
