Flood victims in Johor return home as weather improves

JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor has decreased to 8,040 as weather conditions improve and evacuees return home.

The Johor Disaster Management Committee said that as of 4pm on Saturday (March 22), 2,485 families remain in 52 temporary relief centres (PPS).

This is a decrease from 3,049 families in 68 PPS at noon the same day.

"There is a downward trend in evacuees at PPS, with the majority allowed to return home since this morning," it said.

"All flood victims in Kulai have been permitted to leave the PPS, reducing the number of flood-affected districts in Johor to five," it added.

Johor Baru remains the most affected district with 4,318 evacuees, followed by Kluang (1,793), Pontian (1,551), Batu Pahat (270) and Kota Tinggi (108).
