Siblings swept away in Sg Mukah, Sarawak found drowned


MUKAH: The search and rescue operation for two school-age siblings who were feared drowned in Sungai Mukah has ended with the discovery of their bodies on two separate days.

State Fire and Rescue Department in a statement on Thursday (March 20) said the body of Dexper Kiu Kuang Wei,10, was found by policemen at 4.40pm on Wednesday (March 19) about 2km from the scene.

The body of his seven-year-old sister Susie was found by villagers in Pantai Kala Dana at about 9.25am on Thursday.

"The bodies of the two victims had been sent to Hospital Mukah for further action," the statement read.

The two siblings were swept away by currents while bathing in the river near the Yellow Bridge on Tuesday (March 18).

The children, who did not know how to swim, were quickly pulled underwater by the strong currents.

Their mother attempted to rescue them but was unsuccessful.
