Mohamaddin ready to defend Segama seat, health permitting

KOTA KINABALU: Former Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi, will defend his Segama state seat in Lahad Datu, provided he remains in good health and is given the opportunity.

“If I am needed and my health permits it, I will contest; if not, I will just rest. That’s all,” he said after a breaking of fast programme at Masjid Tabanak in Lahad Datu on Saturday (Mar 15).

The now Umno and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-friendly assemblyman said any decision would depend on the situation.

The 65-year-old made his political comeback with Parti Warisan when he won the Lahad Datu and Segama seats in 2018 and was made a federal minister before quitting the party on Oct 30, 2021 to become an independent, shortly before joining Bersatu the following month.

He had a brief stint with Parti Bangsa Malaysia thereafter, and then quit to apply as Umno member and pledged his support to the GRS-state government under Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
