SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan's Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) has advised the Luak (major district) of Sungei Ujong to accept the removal of Datuk Mubarak Dohak as the Undang of Sungei Ujong, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The Mentri Besar said this came following a meeting between the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, who chairs the DKU, with council members and elders from Sungei Ujong.

As the Undang of Sungei Ujong, Mubarak is one of the four principal ruling chieftains of Negri Sembilan.

"The DKU held a special session at the Istana Besar Seri Menanti this morning (Friday, April 17) on the matter.

"During the session, Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir and the DKU members were given 33 reasons as to why Datuk Mubarak should be removed as the Undang of Sungei Ujong," he said in a statement.

Also present at the session were Ibu Soko Klana Hulu and Waris Klana Hulu, the region's council of elders.

The process, Aminuddin said, was carried out according to Rule 14(3) of the  Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan 1959.

The 65-year-old Mubarak was appointed Undang in December 1993, succeeding Datuk Mohammad Kassim Abdul Rashid.

Negri Sembilan has four Undang who hold influential positions in the state's traditional Adat Perpatih system.

This includes the authority to elect the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan.

Apart from the Undang of Sungei Ujong, the other three territorial chiefs are Undang Sungai Ujong, Undang Jelebu and Undang Rembau.
