Thunderstorms, heavy rain in KL, Johor and eight states until 6pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting the federal capital, the whole of Johor and eight other states until 6pm on Friday (April 17).

MetMalaysia in a statement said adverse weather conditions are expected in Perlis and Kedah, involving Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Sik and Baling, as well as Perak, covering Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.

It said similar conditions are forecast in Kelantan (Jeli), Terengganu (Besut, Hulu Terengganu and Kemaman), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin) and Selangor, involving Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are expected to include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu and Mukah, specifically Matu, Dalat and Mukah districts.
