Man released on police bail after assaulting student over road dispute


KAJANG: A man has been released on police bail after physically assaulting a school student over a misunderstanding on the road near Saujana Impian.

Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, said that the 39-year-old suspect was remanded for one day on Saturday (March 15) before being released on bail.

"After the remand period ended, the suspect was released on police bail. The police are now finalizing the investigation papers to refer the case to the Deputy Public Prosecutor," he stated when contacted by Sinar Harian on Sunday (March 16).

The incident occurred on Friday (March 14) when a Form Five student was injured after being punched by an unknown man at a road junction around 2.15pm. The 17-year-old victim filed a report with the police at 9.24pm, and the suspect was arrested on the same day.

The victim suffered a fractured nose and received treatment at Kajang Hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim did not possess a driving license, and the police have issued a summons related to this offence.
