Cops hunting for two robbers after deadly clash

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are still hunting for the two remaining robbery gang members, whose three accomplices were shot dead in Sepang.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan (pic) said police have mobilised their resources to track down both suspects.

“We are still investigating the gang further and the extent of their criminal activities,” he said when contacted.

On Friday, three robbers, believed to be foreigners, were shot dead after they attacked a team of policemen at Desa Vista.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) deputy director Deputy Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the three were responsible for 17 robberies and house break-ins, resulting in almost RM1mil in losses since early last year.

The suspects, armed with machetes, attacked the CID team before they were shot dead.

The confrontation took place after the gang had broken into a house which was recorded on CCTV.

DCP Fadil said the prompt action by the police was based on information from the house owner.

“The owner acted fast in contacting the police after seeing the armed robbers entering his house. A CID team took decisive action in going after the suspects before cornering them in the woods near a water tank,” he said.

A video showing four robbers breaking into a house before three of them were shot dead has gone viral on social media.

In the CCTV footage, the suspects are seen entering the house through the back fence at 1.41am.

All four of them fled when the alarm was triggered in barely a minute. They escaped through the back fence before hiding in the woods.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman confirmed the recording is from the CCTV installed at the victim’s house.
