The Johor Fire and Rescue Department operation centre said they received an emergency call on the incident at 5.47pm on Thursday (March 13).

“The fire took place at Jalan Seri Orkid 2,’’ Skudai fire station chief Saifulbahari Safar said in a statement.

He said 30 firemen from the Skudai, Iskandar Puteri and Kempas fire stations were deployed to the scene and arrived at the site at 6pm.

Saifulbahri said the five houses were damaged between 10% and 90%, three cars and a motorcycle suffered between 90% and 95% damage while another car was 15% damaged.

“There was only one occupant inside one of the houses at the time of the fire and the person managed to get out safely," he said, adding that the operation ended at 6.30pm.
