Melaka allocates RM400,000 in Aidilfitri aid, says CM Ab Rauf

ALOR GAJAH: The Melaka government has allocated RM400,000 in aid for the Aidilfitri celebrations to all six parliamentary constituencies in the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the initiative reflects the state government's commitment to easing the financial burden of the less fortunate, especially in preparation for the festive season.

"The allocation, distributed in stages, will benefit 2,000 recipients, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, single mothers, and underprivileged individuals. The number of recipients in each locality will be determined through a screening process," he said.

He said this after launching the Aidilfitri assistance presentation ceremony for the Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency, at the Masjid Tanah Youth and Sports Complex, Friday (March 14).

Also in attendance were former Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali, and Women, Family and Community Development state executive councillor Datuk Kalsom Noodin.

"We will continue to support those in need, especially as they prepare to celebrate Syawal. Hopefully, this contribution will help ease their burden during the festive season.

"I have seen many individuals, including single mothers and underprivileged families, who rely on this assistance. The unity government in Melaka remains committed to prioritising the welfare of the people, and ensuring their needs are met," he said.

At the event today, 359 recipients from the Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency received aid, amounting to RM71,800. - Bernama
