Brunei archers celebrate Aidilfitri in style

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Alyudin Mohd Yusoff claimed the top spot in the Traditional Archery male 50-metre category of the Panahan Aidilfitri Setia Bersatu Archery Club 2026 yesterday, followed by Mitasby Mamit in second and Zailani Mohamad in third.

In the Traditional Archery female 50-metre category, Siti Nora Sofya Mohamad Jockurnain emerged as the champion while Amas Yassin finished in second place and Siti Nur Adibah Mohammad took third.

The Barebow male 50-metre category saw Muhd Noorizan Abdullah Manggai secure first place, with Ahmad Athery Abd Samad and Sama’an Ismail taking second and third.

In the Barebow female 50-metre category, Tee Siew Noy emerged as the winner, followed by Dzohrinah Mohd Daud in second and Nur Susilina Abdullah Jamain in third.

For the Barebow 30-metre under-15 category, Nur Nazurah Habriyah binti Hussain finished first, Khaireen Athirah Ahmad Athery took second, and Nur Umairah Zahra Muhd Noorizan placed third.

A record high of 51 archers of all ages dressed in their Hari Raya attire competed in the event at the field of the Co-Curriculum Education Department in Lambak Kanan.

The competition, organised by the Setia Bersatu Archery Club, combined modern and traditional archery styles to foster a sense of togetherness while celebrating Aidilfitri.

The theme of this year’s celebration was ‘Traditional and Modern Archery Together Enlivening the Sunnah’.

The objectives of the gathering included fostering goodwill, enhancing a positive sporting spirit, and strengthening companionship among Setia Bersatu Archery Club members.

The event also served as vital preparation for several archers scheduled to compete in the 2026 Barebow Asia KL from April 29-May 3 and the Bintulu Traditional Invitation Games in Sarawak from May 1-3. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
