KUALA LUMPUR: Close to 5,000 transactions were made at the pioneer Sentuhan Madani kiosks in January, says Pantau Madani unit director-general Mohd Khalid Mohamed Latiff.
Mohd Khalid said the kiosks at the Alamanda shopping mall in Putrajaya recorded 4,689 transactions.
Of the number, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) service at the kiosk recorded 2,981 transactions, making up more than half of the total transactions.
Other kiosks which recorded high traction were the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and MyDigital ID kiosks there, according to Mohd Khalid.
“The kiosks are a collaborative effort between both the government and private sector. It uses a whole of nation approach, which has been emphasised by the Prime Minister,” he told reporters after attending the launch of the second Sentuhan Madani kiosk at KL Sentral on Thursday (March 13).
Mohd Khalid, whose unit oversees the kiosks, said the installation costs are borne fully by the premises themselves.
The Johor government, he said, have also expressed interest in installing the costs there.
“We are currently in discussion to identify corporate companies or sponsors we can work with alongside safe locations with a high footfall,” he said, adding that they are looking to establish 30 such kiosks nationwide in the next 24 months.
“The speed of this initiative also depends on corporate sector initiatives and we invite them to join us on this journey,” he added.
Mohd Khalid said the placement of kiosks also has the potential to increase footfall at the premise.
“At Alamanda, for example, we saw a hike in the number of visitors. People went there and sought services provided by the kiosks,” he said.
Earlier Thursday (March 13), Transport Minister Anthony Loke launched the second Sentuhan Madani kiosk, which is placed at KL Sentral.
Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan and Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd chairman Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif.
On Jan 9, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the first Sentuhan Madani kiosk at Alamanda shopping mall in Putrajaya, as part of the government’s initiative to facilitate access to its services.
The kiosks assemble more than 100 government services across agencies like JPJ, Pos Malaysia, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Employees’ Provident Fund, Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad and MyDigital ID.
The services offered are similar to those available online and at government departments.
