Terengganu police issue 427 permits to sell fireworks for Hari Raya Aidilfitiri

JERTIH: The Terengganu police have received 516 applications for permits to sell fireworks for Aidilfitri this year and approved 427 so far, says Terengganu police chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairuddin.

He said the Kuala Terengganu district had the highest number of applications with 180 but only 157 were approved, adding that the police have maintained the same conditions as before.

"We have called up all successful applicants and informed them of what they can and cannot do.

"Only original permits are allowed to be displayed, not copies," he told reporters at the Besut police headquarters on Monday (March 10).

Mohd Khairi also warned that the police would take stern action against anyone involved in smuggling and storing fireworks illegally. – Bernama
